The W3C had hosted a workshop on the the future of social networking at the beginning of this year. Participants have been managers and technological experts. The targets of the workshop were examining the state of social networking and to discuss the future depending on other influences like broadband and the mobile internet. Furthermore there has been a discussion about the necessity of a related W3C working group, which would mean a necessity of technological standards.
Over 70 position papers have been issued by experts. These papers and some first analysis have been made available at the workshop homepage now.
