eMarketer has summarized some interesting data about the mobile commerce channel within an article. Whereas only about 5 % of mobile users do use this channel for purchases, there is a lot of trust. About 26 % of mobile users feel very secure and 45 % think the mobile channel is secure.

This research is equivalent to the real purchasing behavior, which differs most from research on potential purchases. Whereas a study on potential purchases primarily names low cost goods like fast food, movie or concert tickets, but, too, hotels and travel, the study on the real purchasing behavior has completely different results. Too, by digital content low cost goods are in the first position, which are purchased by 58 % of mobile users. But this is the only correlation. At the second and third positions are electronic products with 51 % and computers and peripherals with 37 %. After books with 36 % and clothings with 31 % there are jewels and watches with 20 % following.

A low penetration with mobile commerce sites is named as a reason for the low acceptance of this channel. Only 7 % of online retailers have established mobile sites.
