Research by Nielsen shows a year over year increase of 98 % of time spend viewing video streams on social networking sites. The number of streams increased by 45 %. The conclusion is that social networking sites will become a more important channel for video viewing.
Furthermore it is an interesting observation that Stickam, a personal broadcasting site, is the number three network regarding time spend viewing videos after Facebook and MySpace. Similar happenings have been found within the top 10 news source on Twitter with twitcam, a Twitter live streaming app, being in this list. This means that personal broadcasting is becoming a mainstream activity.
