This function Twitter Places is an enhancement to the already existing Geotagging API, which enables to add a geographic location to a Twitter post. By Twitter Places a location may be concretely named. Furthermore Twitter collaborates with the lbs services Foursquare and Gowalla, which enables to access and exchange information provided.
