At the Semantic Technology Conference Google reported about the status of the Rich Snippets functions, which are part of the search results and which by this are important to search engine marketing and optimization.

The offer and use of rich snippets data has increased fourfold since October 2009 and twofold in english language alone. Rich snippets data are most popular with reviews and especially restaurant reviews. Furthermore social networks like Facebook and LinkedIn have started to use this feature. Meanwhile rich snippets have become available in more than 40 languages.
