W3C Report on Social Media Standards
The W3C Social Web Incubator Group, a working group started in April 2009, has released its final report. The aim of the group has been to get an overview of social media standards existing on the market and to work on recommendations towards standardization. The conclusion of the group is the recommendation to provide further resources to continue to work on this subject and regarding standardization to focus on the creation of a digital identity standard. The latter has often been criticized and even by the inventor of the web Tim Berners-Lee lately, because of the omnipresence of a few social networks and especially Facebook. Below the final report of the W3C Social Web Incubator Group.
