According to The Next Web videos now uploaded to Facebook are displayed using HTML 5, which enables to display videos by any software on any device including mobile phones supporting this standard. This might be an interesting option to non tech savvy people to share video on mobile phones, which by the way is tested on video sharing platforms like YouTube, too. This works by displaying the video within the browser and without the need of a video player software. This avoids hurdles with different video standards and enables universality. The precondition is a compatible browser or device. Currently the browsers Safari by Apple, Google Chrome and Firefox are able to display this standards as well as at least the iPhone and mobile phones using the up to date version of the Android operating system.
